This post is the deep dive on Verkada’s MT81 Cloud-Managed Security Trailer: what the platform is, what SAINT actually does with it in Lincoln and Omaha, and what it is not. Critical framing (so nobody misreads the byline): the chassis and platform are Verkada’s. SAINT is an authorized Verkada partner based in Hickman who deploys and operates the MT81 when it fits a Nebraska site. We do not manufacture the trailer, brand it as a SAINT SKU, or list it in our public price book. The SAINT Security Box is a different, custom SAINT-built product — do not conflate the two.

What the Verkada MT81 actually is
From Verkada’s own security-trailer page (verkada.com/security-trailers), the MT81 Cloud-Managed Security Trailer is a solar-powered, mobile surveillance platform designed for sites that lack reliable power or network. In plain language for a Nebraska GC or facilities lead:
- Solar + battery — two battery-size variants exist at the vendor level; the right size depends on camera load, geography, and uptime needs (Verkada’s account team / partner scoping — not a blog wattage sheet)
- Mast / mounts — arm mounts and drop pipes for Verkada cameras
- Up to six Verkada cameras — capacity stated by the vendor; cameras are chosen per sightline
- BZ11 horn speaker — for talk-down / deterrence audio when that capability is part of the design
- GC31-E cellular gateway — cellular path so Command can reach the site remotely
- Command — Verkada’s cloud management experience for live view, search, alerts, and (when configured) talk-down
Sold separately (vendor fact): Verkada cameras, speakers, and gateways are not bundled as “free with every trailer” in the marketing sense that matters to a quote — they are line items in a real deployment BOM. We will not invent a SAINT trailer SKU that pretends otherwise.
Vendor capabilities to treat carefully (capability language, not SAINT guarantees):
- Video alarms / agent verification / live talk-down / notify team / dispatch pathways — as Verkada describes the product family
- Optional LPR cameras for plate capture when the lot design warrants it (see our LPR post — design honesty, not a bolt-on promise)
- PTZ and vendor Sentry Mode language for automated patrol / zoom coverage — useful when scoped; not a claim that every Nebraska deploy ships with a PTZ hunting faces at midnight

Use cases beyond “construction trailer in the mud”
Construction is the obvious fit — and it is still the most common ask we hear. The MT81’s reason to exist is broader: temporary or infrastructure-light coverage.
Active jobsites (new-home and commercial)
Gate, laydown yard, job-office approach, street exposure after HVAC and appliances land. Production homes in Lancaster County and commercial pads across Omaha-metro both suffer the same pattern: loss happens in the gap between “cameras next month” and the first quiet weekend. Events and temporary deployments
Concerts, festivals, sporting weekends, pop-up outdoor layouts — coverage you need for hours or days, not a five-year camera plan on a clinic wall. Vendor use-case list includes events explicitly; SAINT scopes whether a trailer is the right tool versus a smaller temporary camera set.
Parking lots and yards
Employee lots, overflow parking, equipment yards, and storage lots that lack building power at the fence line. LPR belongs here only when plates are the investigation question you actually need — not because a brochure said “AI.”
Utilities, infrastructure, and remote pads
Vendor use cases also include utilities/infrastructure and oil/gas/mining-style remote sites. For Nebraska operators, the practical cousin is often a substation-adjacent pad, a rural laydown, or a short-lived project site far from a building IDF. Assessment decides whether solar + cellular is honest — or whether a fixed uplink already exists and a trailer is overkill.
Short-term gaps before permanent cameras
Leasehold build-outs, phased renovations, and “permanent cameras ship in six weeks” windows. A trailer (or a Security Box) can bridge the gap without forcing a consumer NVR into a temporary closet.

Marketing language collapses everything into “mobile security.” Operators need the split:

Stack pieces on a typical MT81-shaped deploy (product-family level):
- Verkada cameras aimed at gates, laysdowns, and approaches — not randomly at empty dirt
- Cellular gateway so Command works without a building ISP
- Optional horn / talk-down when deterrence audio is in scope
- Optional LPR only when plate evidence is a real requirement
- Monitoring / alert recipients named before go-live so footage is not “someone will check”
We will say when neither trailer nor box is worth it. A site with power, PoE budget, and a VLAN story often wants fixed cameras and a sane network — see network design and the cloud cameras + access post — not a mast in the mud for optics.
Lincoln–Omaha logistics (what we can say without inventing)
KNOWN and honest:
- SAINT is based in Hickman, NE — service-area business, not a Lincoln or Omaha storefront
- Lincoln footprints are often ~15–20 minutes from Hickman
- Omaha-metro work is typically scheduled via I-80; suburbs are service area, not branch offices
- Delivery, aiming, cellular bring-up, and later relocation between lots are scoped as project work — not a surprise add-on after the first move (same stance as our jobsite security FAQ)
UNKNOWN on this page — and we will not invent:
- Public fleet size (“we have N trailers in Nebraska”)
- Same-day / next-morning SLA for every Omaha lot
- Published rental day-rate or SAINT trailer list price
- Cellular plan pricing
- Warranty language beyond pointing at Verkada’s own trailer warranty notes for chassis/solar/included electronics

Assess first: gate, lighting, sightlines, theft pattern
A trailer pointed at the wrong dumpster is still a trailer. Before anyone talks mast height or camera count, walk:
- Gate and entry paths — where vehicles and people actually enter after hours
- Laydown / high-value staging — HVAC, copper, appliances, tools, materials
- Lighting — cameras need photons; talk-down needs a scene someone can interpret
- Sightlines and blind corners — fence lines, conex walls, street exposure
- Theft / incident pattern — weekends, shift change, specific weeks in the build calendar
- Power and uplink reality — truly none, partial, or “trailer office has ALLO/fiber and we overcomplicating this”
- Who watches — named admins, alert recipients, and whether talk-down / monitoring is in scope
